Here’s a look back at another energy upgrade project Dominic O’Connor Ltd.completed through the SEAI/Department of Education Energy Pilot Scheme in Saint Anne’s Community College in Killaloe Co. Clare.

In the space of 7 weeks DOC removed & replaced 4000m2 of roof tiles, installed new roof insulation along with a YBS insulated membrane. External & internal dry lining systems were installed. New AMS windows & doors along with window board, liners & spandrel panels were installed.

The school wiring was upgraded & new LED fittings & controls were installed along with PV panels on the upgraded roof. The heating system was upgraded with the existing plant room getting revamped to include 4 new gas boilers along with a new header installed & a new BMS to help the school monitor its energy usage.

A final and key part of the works were some remedial works to improve the air tightness of building & improve the schools overall BER.

A special thanks to CB Electrical, Rob Madden Construction, Western Insulation, Curtin Scaffolding, Pat Daly Plastering & Curran Aluminium & PVC Ltd who helped us complete these work within the time frame available to us to allow the school to reopen safely in late August.

It was great to work with AL Architects, Ipsum Consulting Engineers Ltd & Joe Coyle QS on this project.
